Authoring Portlet - User Interface Options

The following User Interface options can be set for the Authoring Portlet (Web Content Authoring).

Maximum open tasks per Authoring Portlet instance: The Authoring Portlet allows Users to open multiple tasks. E.g. - a User could open a Site Area form, a Presentation Template form, two Content forms and ten Component forms at the same time.

By default, Users can open an unlimited number of tasks. In reality, if every User opened a large number of tasks, the performance of your Web Content Management application could drop dramatically, or stop working altogether.

To avoid this, the Maximum open tasks per Authoring Portlet instance can be set here. Simply enter the number of tasks you would like to limit each Authoring Portlet instance to. This number is determined by the number of users, the required tasks each user may need to open, and the capacity of the server Web Content Management is installed on. Tip: You can test this setting in a test environment before applying it to a production environment.

Maximum selected items per action before warning:

Maximum selected items per action before action denied:

By default, Users can select an unlimited number of items in an index. In reality, if a User selected a large number of items in an Index, the performance of your Web Content Management application could drop dramatically, or stop working altogether.

To avoid this, the Maximum selected items per action before action denied can be set here. Simply enter the number of selected items you would like to limit in an Index. This number is determined by the number of items Users may realistically be required to select, and the capacity of the server Web Content Management is installed on.

You can also set the Maximum selected items per action before warning This should be smaller than the Maximum selected items per action before action denied as this warning should appear prior to a User reaching the selected items limit. Tip: You can test these settings in a test environment before applying them to a production environment.

Maximum rows per table: This field allows you to define how many rows appear in an index. If left blank, this defaults to 20. A maximum of 100 rows can set.
Enable people awareness: People Awareness allows you to select User Names that appear in views and forms within the Authoring Portlet and send those Users an e-mail or Sametime message.

To enable People Awareness, select the check-box.
