Before using IBM^® Lotus Web Content Management™, you should become familiar with the terminology used in Web Content Management and the basic Web content development process.

• Web Content Management terminology
  These common terms are used when describing IBM Lotus Web Content Management.
• Site creation example
  This example describes the steps required to render a simple web page by creating and linking various IBM Lotus Web Content Management items.
• Using the authoring portlet
  The authoring portlet is used to create and manage the items you use to create Web sites. There are a common set of features within the authoring portlet to assist you work with items.
• Creating items
  At some point when using IBM Lotus Web Content Management you will be required to create a new item. The basic item creation task is the same for all item-types.
