Working with elements

You use elements to either store or generate web content. You can add elements to sites, site areas, content items and authoring templates, or you can create a stand-alone component for a specific element-type.

• Storing text and HTML
  You use different types of elements to store text or HTML depending on the type of text or HTML being created.
• Creating links
  You use these elements to define or generate links between different pages in a Web site.
• Storing files and images
  You use these elements to store files or images.
• Referencing external content
  You use these elements to reference content stored in other IBM^® WebSphere^® Portal Express applications, or stored outside of WebSphere Portal Express.

  You use these elements to create or reference personalized content.
• Selection elements
  You use these elements to make selections from existing elements and data.
• Design elements
  You use these elements to enhance the design of presentation templates and other elements designs.
