Set up a production environment on Windows
In a production environment, you can install and configure IBM® WebSphere® Portal Express on a single (primary) node
and then add additional nodes in the future as your company's needs grow.
You can also deploy a high availability production environment by creating
and configuring clustered deployments of multiple servers running WebSphere Portal Express managed
by IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
Perform the following steps to set up your production environment
on Windows:
- Preparing prerequisite and corequisite software on Windows
Before creating your high availability production environment, prepare your database, your user registry, your deployment manager, and your remote Web server.
- Preparing for WebSphere Portal Express Server on Windows
Before installing IBM WebSphere Portal Express, you may have to prepare your operating system to handle the installation. You may also want to make the necessary preparations to install as a non-root user and/or to configure your ports.
- Preparing the primary node on Windows
Before creating your high availability environment, install IBM WebSphere Portal Express on your primary node and then configure your database, your user registry, and your network deployment manager.
- Creating the cluster on Windows
After installing and federating the primary node, create the cluster.
- Preparing additional nodes on Windows
After installing and configuring your primary node, you can create your secondary nodes. You must install IBM WebSphere Portal Express on each node and then configure the node to access the database and user registry before adding it to the cluster.
- Uninstalling a cluster on Windows
You can uninstall IBM WebSphere Portal Express only or both WebSphere Portal Express and IBM WebSphere Application Server using either the graphical user interface, console mode, or silent uninstallation program.
