Template access

Use the Resource Permissions portlet to assign portal access roles to composite application templates, application template categories, and the application template root.

Access to work with application templates and application template categories is controlled by the roles that you assign to users using the Resource Permissions portlet: Administrator, Security Administrator, Delegator, Manager, Editor, Privileged User, and User. Access rights to work with application templates require a minimum permission of viewing the Templates page, its child pages (Welcome, Template Library, and Application Library), and the two portlets, Application Template Library and Applications (the application catalog). Permission to view portal pages and portlets is granted by the role type User.

You can see the application template resources that you need to assign access to by viewing the Resource Permissions portlet. From the main menu, click Administration > Access > Resource Permissions to see these application template resources in the list of resource types:

Note: Application templates are community data and, as such, are stored in the Java™ Content Repository database domain of your portal installation. Therefore, the access control information for application templates cannot be processed by the XML configuration interface and RealeaseBuilder, which process the protected portal resources that are stored in the release database domain.
