Starting the LDAP service automatically on a Lotus Domino server

You configure an IBM® Lotus® Domino® LDAP server to support IBM Lotus Domino and the Lotus Domino portlets by adding a setting to the NOTES.INI file that causes the server to start the LDAP service (server task) each time the server starts.

Important: If you use the Domino-WebSphere Portal Express Integration Wizard, perform this task manually before running the wizard.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Open the NOTES.INI file in the domino_server_root directory on the Lotus Domino server.
  2. Locate the following entry:

    ServerTasks=

  3. If the entry does not already exist, create it, and make sure the following value, if it does not already exist, is appended at the end of the line:

    ,ldap

  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Restart the Lotus Domino server.
