Enabling access to the remote portlet from the Consumer
Give users access to a remote Common Mail portlet.
Note: This procedure requires that both the producer and consumer
servers are IBM® WebSphere® Portal Express servers.
- Perform the following steps to specify the producer server:
- On the Consumer server, log in as portal administrator, then
click Administration.
- Click Portlet Management, then click Web
Services.
- Click New Producer, type the Producer server's name in
the Title field, and type this line in the URL to WSDL service definitions field:
http://fully_qualified_producer_portal_host_name:producer_port/
portal_server_context_root/wsdl/wsrp_service.wsdl
- Click I want to specify the user attributes that should be
passed to this Producer.
- Select these fields: ibm-primaryEmail, givenName,
and sn.
- Click OK twice.
- Perform the following steps to consume the remote portlet:
- Click Web Modules.
- Click Consume, then click the name of
the Producer server.
- Find and select the remote portlet you created on the Producer
server (for example, Remote Mail) in the portlet list, then click OK.
- Perform the following steps to set access to the remote portlet:
- Click Access, then click User
and Group Permissions.
- Click User Groups, click the pencil icon
for All Authenticated Portal Users, and then click Portlets.
- Find the remote portlet in the resources list, click its key
icon, select Privileged User, and then click OK.
- To add the portlet to the desired page(s) on the remote server,
follow the instructions for adding portlets in layout, content, and appearance of pages. It also provides the Wires portlet, which allows users to set up connections between cooperative portlets on a page, and the Locks portlet, which allows users to lock and unlock containers and container content. You can configure the settings for these portlets to show a certain set of functions, restricting basic users from performing more advanced tasks.">Customizing pages.
