Adding a new queue sharing group to an existing Db2 data sharing group that is used by existing queue sharing groups

Follow these steps to add a new queue sharing group, containing queue managers running at IBM MQ for z/OS Version 9.2, to a Db2 data sharing group used by existing queue sharing groups, running at earlier versions of IBM MQ.

Before starting

Ensure all queue managers in the existing queue sharing groups have the latest versions of maintenance applied, including all migration and coexistence PTFs that are applicable.

For example, if the existing queue sharing groups contain a mixture of Version 8.0, Version 9.0 and Version 9.1 queue managers, the Version 8.0 queue managers should have the migration and coexistence PTFs that allow them to coexist with Version 9.0 and Version 9.1 queue managers, and the Version 9.0 queue managers should have the migration and coexistence PTFs that allow them to coexist with Version 9.1 queue managers.Note: There are no migration and coexistence PTFs specific to Version 9.2.

About this task

A Db2 data sharing group can be used by multiple different queue sharing groups, running a variety of different versions of IBM MQ.

All the different queue sharing groups will share the same set of IBM MQ related tables, and these tables must use the definitions provided by the highest version of IBM MQ using the Db2 data sharing group, which in this case will be Version 9.2.

Procedure

  1. Set up the coupling facility.

  2. Customize and include the initialization input sample thlqual.SCSQPROC(CSQ4INSS) in the CSQINP2 data set.

  3. Add the IBM MQ entries to the Db2 data-sharing group using the CSQ5PQSG program.

  4. Tailor the system parameter module to add Db2 data-sharing group and IBM MQ queue sharing group information.
