Removing maintenance level client updates on Windows
For a client, the way in which you revert to an earlier maintenance level depends on whether your client installation was installed from the server DVD or eImage, or from the MQC9 IBM MQ Clients SupportPac.
About this task
If your client installation was installed from the IBM MQ server DVD or eImage, we can revert to an earlier maintenance level by rolling back the fixpack installation in the same way as for a server installation.
Important: Client only installations installed from the MQC9 IBM MQ Clients SupportPac cannot be restored to an earlier maintenance level on Windows. If you need to do this, you must first uninstall the currently installed version of the client and then reinstall client at the appropriate earlier maintenance level.
Procedure
To revert to an earlier maintenance level for a client installation that you installed from the server DVD or eImage:
- Log on as an Administrator.
- Remove the maintenance either interactively or silently, as for a server installation (see Removing maintenance level server updates on Windows).
To revert to an earlier maintenance level for a client only installation that you installed from the MQC9 IBM MQ Clients SupportPac:
- Uninstall the current version of the client as described in Uninstalling IBM MQ on Windows.
- Reinstall the client at the earlier maintenance level. If you already have an install image for the earlier maintenance level, we can use that to reinstall the client. Alternatively, we can download the installation image that you require (see MQC9: IBM MQ V9 Clients). After extracting the content, run the setup.exe program from the Windows subdirectory that has been created (see Install an IBM MQ client on Windows.
