Using a feed to subscribe to blog entries or comments

You can subscribe to a feed to make a particular blog or a collection of blog entries or comments available to you in a feed client of your choosing. A feed allows you to access blog content without having to open the Blogs page. You can also use the feeds to integrate Blogs content into a community that you belong to.

You must have a feed reader available to set up a feed in your Web browser.

Follow these procedures to set up a feed:

  1. Navigate to the blog or collection of entries that you want to convert to a feed.

  2. The options for setting up a subscription depend on the page you are on, for example:

    • From Browse Blogs page, you can subscribe to blog entries or comments.

    • From a Blog entry you can subscribe to all entries, subscribe to all comments, or subscribe to comments for the entry.

    • From the Public Blogs page you can subscribe to all public blogs.

    • From the My recommendations page you can subscribe to recommended entries.

    • From the My Updates page you can subscribe to recent entries and comments, to notifications sent, or notifications received..

  3. Hover over Feed for Blog Entries or Feed for Blog Comments and choose whether you want to create the feed in a community or in your Web browser.

  4. If you are creating a feed in your browser, follow these steps:

    1. Choose the feed reader to use for the feed.

    2. Subscribe to the feed.

  5. Click OK to create the feed.

You can then access the blog entries or comments that you subscribed to from the feed repository.

To remove the feed, delete the repository. For example, if you create a feed in Mozilla Firefox using Live Bookmarks and specify a folder available from your browser bookmarks, you can remove the feed by deleting the folder.
