Determine the notification language for Profiles

Overview

Unlike the other IBM Lotus Connections features, for Profiles, the language preference for notifications is not dynamically updated when a user logs in. If user language preferences are not present in their profile, the notification is sent in the language of the sender's browser locale.

The user locale is stored as follows:

When a value is included in the PROF_PREFERRED_LANGUAGE field, the message is composed in the specified language. When PROF_PREFERRED_LANGUAGE has no value, then the message is composed in the language of the sender's Web browser.

The value in the PROF_PREFERRED_LANGUAGE field must be a valid locale code. For example, when the preferred language is English, the value must be set to en; when the preferred language is French, the value must be set to fr, and so on. For the correct format, users can reference the locale code that their browsers use, or consult the ISO639 and ISO3166 standards for the standard locale and country codes respectively.

Unlike the LOCALE value in all of the other Lotus Connections features, PROF_PREFERRED_LANGUAGE is not dynamically updated. PROF_PREFERRED_LANGUAGE is initially given a value only when the IBM TDI populate operation maps the variable so that it can be pulled from the LDAP directory.

You can change the notification language for profiles in the following ways:
