IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1

CYNCR8312E: The DB2 environment variable must be set prior to running the installation if an existing DB2 server is used.

Explanation

When the DB2 client software is installed, certain environment variables are active, such as db2instance.

Operator response

Take the following action

  1. Exit the installation and make sure you can connect properly before re-running the installation.

    • On UNIX systems, source the db2profile of the DB2 instance user.
    • On Windows systems, install the DB2 client software.
    • On all operating systems, the database must be cataloged properly before the DB2 client can be used.

  2. If this machine has a DB2 server already installed, bring up the DB2 command-line environment and make sure you can list the database directory. The database and bufferpool must already exist.

  3. If this machine accesses a remote DB2 server, it must have the DB2 client software installed on it and the remote database must be properly cataloged. Furthermore, if this is a UNIX operating system, the command db2profile must be run before running the installation. db2profile refers to a file in the sqllib subdirectory of the DB2 instance user. For further instructions on how to perform these steps consult the problem determination guide.
