Setting connection properties for the external service wizard

To set connection properties for the external service wizard so that it can access the Siebel Business Applications server, specify information, such as the Connection URL, user name, and the password you use to access the server. In addition, specify the name or IP address of the server.

Verify that you have successfully added the external software dependency files.

Specify the connection properties that the external service wizard requires to establish a connection to the Siebel Business Applications server and discover functions or data.

To specify the connection properties, use the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. In the Select the Processing Direction window, select Outbound (to send data to the Siebel Business Applications server from the adapter), or Inbound (to send data to the adapter from the Siebel Business Applications server), and then click Next. The Specify the Discovery Properties window is displayed.

  2. In the Specify the Discovery Properties window, specify the configuration properties:

    1. In the Connection URL field, type the URL to connect to the Siebel Business Applications server.

    2. Select Language code from the drop-down list, to specify the language. The default is set to ENU (English).
    3. Type the user name and password you use to access the Siebel Business Applications server. The password is case-sensitive.

    4. In the Settings for performing discovery on Siebel system panel, set the Type of Siebel objects to discover to Siebel Business Objects or Siebel Business Services from the drop-down list.

If you select Siebel Business Objects, as the Type of Siebel objects to discover, the Prompt for additional configuration settings when adding a business object check box is enabled.

    5. Optional: In the Siebel repository name field, type the name of the repository from which the objects are to be discovered.

    6. Optional: In the Prefix for business object names field, specify a string that can be prefixed to the business object names.

    7. Select the Prompt for additional configuration settings when adding a business object check box to select the attributes of the business objects.

If you have the Multi Value Link (MVL) field, it is added by default to the generated business objects.

  3. Click Advanced to set the additional advanced properties.

    1. Optional: In the Advanced properties area, click Select to specify the Code page that the adapter uses to connect to the Siebel Business Applications.

  4. To enable bidirectional support for the adapter at run time:

    1. In the Bidi properties area, select Bidi transformation.
    2. Set the ordering schema, text direction, symmetric swapping, character shaping, and numeric shaping properties to control how bidirectional transformation is performed.

  5. To change the location of the log files for the wizard or the amount of information included in the logs, click Change the logging properties for the wizard, and then provide the following information:

    1. In Log file output location, specify the location of the log file for the wizard.

    2. In Logging level, specify the severity of errors that you want logged.

This log information is for the wizard only; at run time, the adapter writes messages and trace information into the standard log and trace files for the server.

  6. Click Next.
