Selecting business objects

Select business objects through the external service wizard, that you want to process.

Ensure that you have set the connection properties for the external service wizard.

Specify the search criteria that the external service wizard uses to discover business objects on the Siebel Business Applications server.

To search and select business objects, use the following procedure.

Selecting business objects

  1. In the Find Objects in the Enterprise System window,

    1. Click Edit Query.

    2. In the Specify the Query Properties window, type the name of the business object in the Pattern field that you want to find (for example, Account), and click OK.

    3. Click Run Query to display the specified business object.
    4. Expand the Siebel Business Objects folder in the Discovered objects pane to see the list of discovered business objects in the Find Objects in the Enterprise System window.

By default, all the business objects, whether they have a primary business component or not, are displayed.

    5. Expand the required business objects (for example, Account), to see the business components.

    6. Select the business components you want to work with and click the right arrow to add them to the Selected objects pane.

The Specify the Configuration Properties for 'object' window is displayed for the selection of attributes, if you have selected the Prompt for additional configuration settings when adding a business object check box in the Specify the Discovery Properties window.

    7. Select the attributes you want to generate from the Specify the Configuration Properties for 'object' window.

If you do not select an attribute, an empty business object is generated.

    8. In the Find Objects in the Enterprise System window, select the required attributes and click OK to add the business components to the Selected objects pane.

You can follow the explained procedure (step a to step g), to continue to select business components from various business objects.

For example, you can query on the opportunity business object, which is another business object in Siebel Business Applications server, and select the associated business components.

If a business object has a primary business component in it:

      1. Select a business component. If this business component is related to the primary business component, the primary business component is selected automatically and operations are generated only for the primary business component. The business object schema is generated for both primary business component and the selected business component.

No operations are generated for the child business components.

      2. If you select a business component, and if this business component is not related to any primary business component, the operations are generated for this business component along with the business object schema.

      3. If you select two non-primary business components and if they are related to each other but not related to the primary business component, the operations are generated for each business components along with business object schemas.

When a business object has no primary business component in it:

      1. Select a business component or a list of business components. The operations are generated for each business component along with the business object schemas.

    9. Click Next. The Specify Composite Properties window is displayed.
