Properties enabled for bidirectional data transformation

Bidirectional (bidi) data transformation properties control the format of bidirectional script data exchanged between an application or file system and integration tools and runtime environments. After these properties are set, bidirectional script data is correctly processed and displayed in IBM Integration Designer and IBM BPM or WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus.

At design time all properties enabled for bidirectional transformation can be configured using the external service wizard and all business object bidi properties can be configured using the Business Object Editor tool in the IBM Integration Designer. At deployment time, all managed connection factory and activation specification bidi properties can be configured using the IBM BPM or WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Process Administrative Console.

Bidirectional properties are divided into three types:

The following table shows property types characterized by bidi format.

Bidi formats
Level of property definition Bidirectional enabled property name Property name as it appears in the wizard Property name as it appears in the Process Administrative Console
Managed connection factory (MCF) properties MCF-related properties BiDi format string BiDiContextEIS
Activation specification (AS) properties AS-related properties EIS BiDi Format BiDiContextEIS
Activation specification properties All event persistence properties Event Persistence BiDi Format BiDiFormatEP
Business object (BO) BO-related properties EIS BiDi Format BiDiContextEIS
Business object BO-related properties Metadata BiDi Format BiDiContextMetadata

All the bidi supported configuration properties for both inbound and outbound communication are shown in the following tables.

Only properties of string type are enabled for bidirectional transformation. Integer properties, such as port and host, the host name property, and Boolean type properties cannot be enabled for bidirectional transformation.

Managed connection factory properties

The following managed connection properties control the bidirectional transformation during outbound communications.

The Protocol managed connection factory property is not enabled for bidirectional transformation because it maintains a constant value for the SMTP protocol.

Activation specification properties

The following activation specification properties control the bidirectional transformation during inbound communications.

Substring searches for globalized characters are not supported by the Java™ Mail API, so MatchAllCriteria and MatchSomeCriteria properties are not enabled for bidirectional transformation.
