Setting the business calendar type

Business calendar types, such as a Gregorian calendar or Hijri (Islamic) calendar, provide an environment for your business calendar functions. Business calendar types are set on the Preferences page.

To set the calendar type, follow these steps:

Procedure

  1. If you are using IBM Integration Designer, switch to the Business Integration perspective and select Window > Preferences, then expand Business Integration and click Calendar. If you are using Rational Application Developer, switch to the Business Monitoring perspective and select Window > Preferences, then expand Business monitoring and click Calendar.

  2. From the Calendar type drop-down list, select the type of calendar you want. The choices available are:

    1. Gregorian (default): This internationally accepted civil calendar provides a close approximation to the tropical year, which is the actual length of time it takes for Earth to make one orbit of the sun.
    2. Hijri (civil): The Hijri (or Islamic) dates in this calendar are based on arithmetic rules.
    3. Hijri (religious): The Hijri (or Islamic) dates in this calendar are based on astronomical calculations.

  3. From the First day of the week drop-down list, select the day that starts the week. The default is Sunday.

  4. Click Apply and OK to make your calendar type selection active. If you have an editor open, close it and open it again to have its contents in synchronization with the new calendar type.

What to do next

International Components for Unicode for Java (ICU4J) is a set of Java libraries that provide Unicode and globalization support for applications. ICU4J affects the way time is calculated in calendars. Time is normalized so that days start at local time zone midnight (even though some calendars start at sunset or other times).

Currently, support for calendar types like the Hijri calendar is only within IBM Integration Designer and IBM Business Monitor development toolkit; that is, it is not supported in the runtime environment.
