Modeling cases

The case model provides for enhanced dynamic modeling of your business flow.

In certain circumstances you will want to provide your users with a degree of flexibility in the business model created. This is particularly true when your users are highly knowledgeable and you want your business flow to make optimal use of this knowledge. The following steps give a high level view of how to create a case model in your business process. See related information for more details.

Procedure

  1. Determine that the business flow you are considering is a good choice for modeling as a case.

The case may be only part of a larger business model.

  2. Add a Collaboration Scope to the business process canvas.

  3. Add the tasks and activities that make up the case to the collaboration scope, and wire them together.

  4. Optional: Set entry or exit conditions on the components of the collaboration scope.

These conditions allow steps to be skipped if conditions are already met, or repeated if necessary.

Results

When you deploy your module, the human owners of tasks within the collaboration scope will be able to adapt the workflow to the business needs.
