Role objects
Role objects are the reference of the role to the data type. In the relationship editor, there is one property page (Description page) available for the role object.
When a role object is selected, the general properties page will open. From here you have the information about the referenced Name, Display name, Namespace and Folder in the file system. The Display name can be edited and the changes will be reflected in the editor.
- Description page
- The detailed information of that particular role object is shown here. From here you can find information about the name of the data type, the namespace and the folder where the data type is stored. The only editable field is the Display name where you can give the role object a proper name in the canvas. In the canvas, you have three options to work with the role object. You can either:
- edit the existing one using the business object editor
- select a different data type as new role object
- drag a data type from the Business Integration View and drop it onto the role or role object
The first two functions are available through the menu of the role object.
Exercise caution when editing the data type as it might result in an incorrect role if attributes, which are used as key attributes, are changed or deleted. Selecting a new data type will launch the Select Data Type window, which will offer all available data types which are in the same scope as the role. If you use drag to select a different data type, ensure that the data type is within the scope of the role, as otherwise an error message will occur.
