Set up a Portal server
A portal is a WebSphere portal server that is installed to WebSphere Application Server. You need to setup a portal server to run a portlet.
A Portal server runs a portlet. A portlet is the visualized application that resides in the portal server helps you run other functions such as human tasks. A portlet is generated on IBM Integration Designer. Once the portlet is generated, install it to a portal server. Each version of a Portal server has its own dependencies.
- Version dependencies
- If you want to use a portlet on a WebSphere portal server version that is running on a WebSphere Application Server less than release 7.0 , install the earlier WebSphere Process Server client that is supported on the WebSphere Application Server version that the WebSphere portal server is installed to. The WebSphere Process Server v7.5 features that are exposed on the client API cannot be used on a earlier installation.
