Create a business item
Create business items within a business vocabulary for use in a Business Design environment inside WebSphere Business Compass or IBM WebSphere Business Modeler.
Procedure
- Open an existing business vocabulary within an existing library.
ο€The Business Vocabulary Editor opens with the Business Items tab open by default.
- Click the Add Business Item
button in the toolbar.
- Highlight the default name, type in a new name for your business item, and press Enter.
The new text becomes the new name of the business item.
The business item name is unique in the same business vocabulary namespace.
- Click the Show Properties
button to open the Properties view.
- The display name is the name that appears to the business user when the business vocabulary is exported to WebSphere Business Compass. It is also the name that appears on process maps and other business design documents that represent business data. Choose a name that is helpful for understanding the type of business data that is contained within this business item, for example, if your business item is called LoanApp, you might want a display name like "Loan Application".
- The implementation is the business object or WSDL message that the business item is based on. To configure the implementation property, click Select..., select a business object or WSDL message from the list, and click OK.
- To further specify your business item so that individual data fields are visible within WebSphere Business Compass as attributes, you can create aliases for fields in the underlying business object.
- Press Ctrl-S to save your changes.
