WebSphere eXtreme Scale authentication

When integrating with a secure WebSphere eXtreme Scale (eXtreme Scale) deployment, IBM BPM must authenticate with the eXtreme Scale catalog server.

There are two methods of authentication in IBM BPM for use with eXtreme Scale: UserPassword and WSToken.

The authentication can be defined when security is enabled on the WXSDefinition parameter, by using the wsadmin commands, or via the Integrated Solutions Console, as shown in Figure 1

Figure 1. Setting eXtreme Scale authentication connection settings using the Integrated Solutions Console

UserPassword

Use this authentication mechanism when the catalog server is running outside of a WebSphere Application Server environment.

WSToken

Use this authentication mechanism when the catalog server is hosted in a WebSphere Application Server cluster.

The WSToken authentication uses WebSphere Application Server LTPA tokens to authenticate users, therefore no further configuration is required.
