IBM BPM, V8.0.1, All platforms > Migrating and upgrading your IBM BPM environment > Migrating from previous versions > Migrating your IBM BPM Advanced V7.5.x or WebSphere Process Server V7.x or V6.2.x runtime
Plan the runtime migration
Use runtime migration procedures and tools to migrate topology configuration, applications, and databases to the new version of IBM BPM. The runtime migration procedures and tools support both stand-alone and ND environment migrations, as well as variants that include migration to a remote system, migration while an operating system is being upgraded to a supported version, and ND variants to support full downtime migration windows and minimal downtime migration windows.
- Runtime migration types
Runtime migration supports the migration of stand-alone environments and ND environments.- Runtime migration tools
Migrating stand-alone and ND environments requires that you manage the production environment (start and stop the dmgr, servers, and nodes), migrate configuration profiles, upgrade product databases, and migrate application data. The runtime migration procedures guide you through the process and the runtime migration tools are used to perform the required steps.- Profiles
The runtime migration tools support the migration of IBM BPM, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, and WebSphere Application Server source profiles to the corresponding profile type on the migration target.- Databases
IBM BPM uses several product databases that either are automatically migrated or must be manually migrated as part of the runtime migration procedure.- Advanced: What gets migrated and what does not get migrated
When you use the IBM BPM runtime migration procedures to migrate to IBM BPM Advanced V8.0.1, the following items are migrated: user applications, profile configuration data, adapters, data sources and providers, and long-running processes.- Advanced: Known compatibility issues
The following items are known compatibility issues when migrating to IBM BPM Advanced V8.0.1.
