Plan to configure the Common Event Infrastructure database

The Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) database specifications list the types of supported databases, script locations, profile configuration types, and necessary user ID privileges. You can optionally use the CEI database to store events that are captured when it is monitoring IBM BPM.

The CEI database is an internal device and you do not interact directly with it. You must use the supported CEI programming interfaces for all interactions with the CEI database.

When you run pmt.sh, you do not automatically create the CEI database. If you want to store CEI events, create the database manually for a stand-alone profile and for each instance of a CEI server in a ND environment.

You create the CEI database for a stand-alone configuration by default and for each instance of a CEI server in an ND environment. To create the database, use scripts.

For a stand-alone configuration with a DB2 for z/OS database, or if you create a managed node or dmgr, create the CEI database and storage groups before you run the IBM BPM for z/OS configuration script.

When you run the IBM BPM for z/OS configuration script, make sure that the CEI database and storage group names in the response file match the names that you used when you created the database and storage groups. For information about creating the database and storage groups, see Create the DB2 databases and storage groups using SPUFI or DSNTEP2.
