Configure caches for security providers

Before you begin

Understand the different techniques for improving the peformance of security providers. See Improving the Performance of WebLogic and LDAP Authentication Providers.

You can improve the performance of the WebLogic Security Framework by configuring caches for security Authentication providers, so that the security provider can reduce the frequency of data store access. To configure the cache of an Authentication provider:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).

  2. Select Security Realms and click the name of the realm in which the security provider is configured.

  3. On the Providers:Authentication page, click the name of the security provider you want to configure.

  4. On the Performance tab, set appropriate values for the cache attributes.

  5. Click Save to save your changes.

  6. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
