Uniform distributed topics - configure multicast parameters

After you configure a distributed topic, you can define multicast parameters that enable the delivery of messages to a select group of hosts that subsequently forward the messages to subscribers.

To configure multicast options for a distributed topic:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).

  2. In the Administration Console, navigate to the uniform distributed topic resource that you want to configure:

  3. Click the Configuration > Multicast tab.

  4. On the Multicast page:

    1. In Multicast Address, enter the multicast address used by the distributed topic.

    2. In Multicast TTL, enter the number of network hops that a multicast message is allowed to travel.

    3. In Multicast Port, enter the multicast port for the distributed topic.

For more information about these fields, see Configuration Options.

  5. Save your changes:

  6. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
