Weighted distributed queues - configure member weights

After you create a weighted distributed queue, you can modify the load balancing weight on the queue members. The weight of a distributed queue member is a measure of its ability to handle message load, with respect to the other member destinations in the same distributed destination.

To configure the weighting for members of a weighted distributed queue:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).

  2. In the Administration Console, navigate to the uniform distributed queue resource that you want to configure:

  3. Click the Configuration > Members tab.

  4. In the Distributed Queue Members table, select the member that you want to configure.

  5. On the Settings page, use the Weight field to change the default load balancing weight of the distributed queue member.

For more information about these fields, see Configuration Options.

  6. Click Save.

  7. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
