Enable and configure IIOP

Before you begin

The server instance for which you enable and configure the IIOP protocol does not need to be running.

The IIOP (Internet Inter-ORB Protocol) protocol makes it possible for distributed programs written in different programming languages to communicate over the Internet. For information about using RMI-IIOP in your applications, see Programming WebLogic RMI.

To enable and configure the IIOP protocol:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).

  2. In the left pane of the Console, expand Environment and select Servers.

  3. Select the Protocols tab, then select IIOP.

  4. Select the Enable IIOP check box to enable the IIOP protocol.

  5. To modify the default configuration, click Advanced.

  6. If you want to specify a default IIOP user name and password:

    1. In the Default IIOP User field, enter a user name.

    2. In Default IIOP Password, enter a password.

  7. Modify default values for the other attributes.

    See Configuration Options.

  8. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
