Diagnostic Images

Column Display     Related Tasks

A diagnostic image is a file that contains a snapshot, or dump, of a server's state and configuration data. Support personnel can use this data for post-failure analysis.

Use this page to change the default location to which a server writes its image file or to force a server to write its diagnostic image (capture the image).

The diagnostic image contains such data as the state and configuration of a server and its subsystems along with any data harvested from diagnostics modules that you have configured. For example it describes, the value of the log cache, the status of work managers, and the JNDI state.

A server automatically writes an image when it fails, and you can capture a snapshot image at any other time.
