IBM Tivoli Monitoring, Version 6.3 Fix Pack 2

Create an IBM Tivoli account for installing

This option does not apply to configuring the portal server on Linux systems where you may use a non-root user ID to install the portal server.

If you do, you must then use the root user ID to configure the portal server because the DB2 installation or administrator ID may lack the necessary privileges.

If, however, you use either the root user ID, the DB2 installation ID, or the DB2 administrator ID to install the portal server, use that same user ID to configure it. You can then use your non-root Tivoli Monitoring user ID to run the portal server.

You can install the IBM Tivoli Monitoring software as the root user, but you do not have to.

Use the same user to install all components.

If you are using NFS or a local file system, establish your installation directory according to the guidelines used in your environment.

Only the Korn shell is supported for the execution of the installation and runtime scripts. Consider using the Korn shell as the default environment for the IBM Tivoli login account.
