Parallel operations
Provide for parallel I/O operations. Use the smallest disk drives possible to increase the number of disks for I/O throughput.
If you purchase larger drives, use only half the space, especially the middle area, for the database. The other half is useful for backups, archiving data, off hour test databases, and extra space for accommodating upgrades.
