Configure user authentication from the command line

Use the following procedure, you can configure user authentication from the command line.


To configure the hub from the command line, perform the following procedure:


Procedure

  1. Change to the install_dir/bin directory and run the following command:

    where install_dir is the installation directory for IBM Tivoli Monitoring, and tems_name is the name of the hub monitoring server. The default installation directory on Linux or UNIX is /opt/IBM/ITM. You will see the following prompt:

      Configure TEMS...

  2. Accept the defaults for the following prompts. The defaults should reflect the selections made during installation.

  3. When you see the prompt:

      Security: Validate User?

    type 1 and press Enter.

  4. If you do not want to use LDAP for authentication, press Enter to select the default (NO). To use LDAP for authentication, type 1 and press Enter. Respond to following prompts by entering the values. To enable TLS/SSL communications between the hub and the LDAP server, provide the appropriate values.

  5. Accept the defaults for the Tivoli Event Integration Facility and the Workflow Policy/Tivoli Emitter Agent Forwarding.

  6. At the following prompt, type 6 (Save/exit), and press Enter:

      Hubs
      ##      CMS_Name
      1       ip.pipe:elsrmt1[4441]

  7. Restart the hub Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server:

      ./itmcmd server stop tems_name
      ./itmcmd server start tems_name
