Define initial data source

Define initial data monitoring types using the Agent Initial Data Source page.

Choose a name for your agent. See (Naming your agent).


Define the monitoring data categories and the data sources that your new agent is to monitor using theAgent Initial Data Source page. For detailed information about each data source, see (Data Sources).


Procedure

  1. After you enter the Agent Information, click Next on the Agent Information page (Figure 3). The Agent Initial Data Source page opens, so you can define the first data source.

  2. Select one of the Monitoring Data Categories and one of the Data Sources.

  3. Click Next. The wizard guides you through the process of defining and configuring any of the data collection types that you specify.

  4. Optional: Define more data sources from the Data Source Definition page after you define the initial data source. See ( Define more data sources).

  5. If you defined a new data source that might return more than one data row, you are prompted to select key attributes. See (Selecting key attributes).

  6. When you finish defining all of your data sources, click Finish.
