Performance analysis for production versus development environments
There are two primary data collection environments supported by RPT performance tools:
Environment Description Development The application is still in the development cycle (code is being added and changed) or under test, but has not been deployed to a production environment. When you analyze applications in a development environment, you work with data that you are collecting in real time. The DCI streams response time breakdown data back to the workbench while the application under test runs.
Production The application has been deployed and users are accessing it. The environment is managed by...
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance
- IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking
- IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere
When you analyze applications in a production environment, the data you are working with is data from past activity that has been stored in a database. The data is queried, collected, and imported for analysis.
