Exporting datapools

You can export a private or public Functional Tester datapool to a .csv file.

When you export a datapool to a .csv file, the first row (record) of the .csv file contains the variable information associated with the datapool. When you import the .csv file, be sure to select the setting First Row is Variable Information. so that the data formats correctly.

You can export a Functional Tester datapool to:

• Add data to a Functional Tester datapool using a spreadsheet application -- You can export a Functional Tester datapool to a .csv file and then use a spreadsheet application to add more data. After you finish adding data, you can then import the .csv file into a new Functional Test datapool.

• Use a datapool in a different Functional Tester project -- Export a Functional Tester datapool to a .csv file and then import the data into a new datapool in a different Functional Tester project.

About this task

To export a public datapool to a .csv file:

Procedure

1. Under Functional Tester Projects, select a public datapool you want to export, right-click the selected public datapool, and click Export.

   2. Click Functional Test Datapool to CSV File, and then click Next.

   3. Under Select a public Datapool to export, either type the path to the folder you want or use the navigation tools (Home , Back , and Go Into ) to select the path to a different datapool.

Exporting a private datapool

About this task

To export a private datapool:

Procedure

1. In the Script Explorer, select a private datapool you want to export, right-click the selected private datapool, and click Export.

2. Under File, type a path and file name for the .csv file or click Browse to specify a different destination directory where you want to the new .csv file to go.

3. Click the Field Separator arrow to select the type of field separator you want to use.

4. Click Finish.
