Creating IE notation diagrams

In UML visualization, you can create diagrams in IE (Information Engineering) notation to examine and design your database applications.

To create an IE notation diagram:

  1. In the Data perspective, in the Data definition view, right-click a database project; then click New IE Diagram.

  2. In the New Data Diagram wizard, select the parent folder (database project) and type a file name.

  3. Click Finish.

A IE notation database diagram is created and opens in the diagram editor.

Note: The parent folder must be a database project; otherwise, the Palette does not open in the diagram editor. You can also create database diagrams from the Navigator or Database Explorer views.
