Enabling security for a WebSphere Application Server v6.0
To enable security for a local or remote WebSphere Application Server v6.0:
- In the Servers view, double-click your WebSphere Application Server v6.0. The server editor opens.
- Click the Overview tab at the bottom of the editor.
- Expand the Security section.
- Select the Enable Security (Not supported in Windows 98 and Windows ME) check box. If this check box is not enabled, all other security settings are ignored. For more information about the WebSphere security feature, see the WebSphere Application Server documentation.
- In the User ID field and Password fields, specify the user name and password for the current active authentication settings defined in the server configuration.
The specified user must have the following permissions: Log on as service and Act as part of the operating system.
To test this setting, start the server. In the Console view find the message Security enabled true which indicates security should be enabled.
The specified user must be logged on as root.
Note: When enabling security for a server, do not give it a user ID that has the same name as the machine where WebSphere Application Server is installed. Otherwise, the server may fail to start.
