Creating a WebSphere v5.x Test Environment server

You can create a server to identify the WebSphere v5.x run-time environment for testing your project resources.

  1. When creating a server, in the select the server type list, select either WebSphere v5.0 Test Environment or WebSphere v5.1 Test Environment .

  2. (Optional) Click Next to configure additional settings.

  3. (Optional) On the WebSphere Configuration settings page, you can do one of the following and click Next:

    • Select the Use default port numbers radio button and enter a different port if necessary in the HTTP port number field.

    • If you prefer to use consecutive port numbers, select the Use consecutive port numbers radio button and type the starting port number in the First port number field.

  4. (Optional) On the Add and Remove Projects page, under the Available projects list, select the project that you want to test and click Add. The project appears in the configured projects list. Click Next.

  5. (Optional) On the Select Tasks page, select the Create tables and data sources check box to automatically create tables and data sources for CMP bean testing. This check box will not appear if you do not have any CMP beans in your EJB project. When a dialog box informs you that the tables were successfully created, click OK.

  6. (Optional) Select the Deploy EJB beans check box to generate EJB deployment code.

  7. Click Finish. The server tools automatically completes the following tasks for you:

    • (Optional) Creates a server project with Servers as the default name, when the Create server resources in workspace check box is enabled (Windows >Preferences > Server).

    • Creates the server.

    • Adds your project to the server.

    • Starts the server. (This may take time depending on the server settings.)
