Profiling portlets
Profiling portlets on the local test server environment allows you to gather run time statistics and analyze performance.
To profile a portlet project locally, you will need to install and start the Rational Agent Controller on the local system. You will profile the portal project using a local WebSphere Portal Test Environment server. Profiling portlets with a Server Attach server is not directly supported. However, the same function is available by publishing a portlet on an external WebSphere Portal server, then using the profiling functions of Rational Developer.
When you profile a portlet on the local test environment server, the default theme and skin are used. To use a customized theme or skin, refer to Testing, debugging, or profiling portals
To profile a portlet project locally:
- From the Project Explorer view, highlight a portlet project and select Profile > Profile on Server .
- To use an existing server, select Choose an existing server and choose a WebSphere Portal Test Environment from the list.
- To define a new local test server, see Configuring local servers for testing portals.
- Click Finish. After the server starts in profile mode and the portal is deployed, the Web browser that you defined opens to the URL of the portal application on the local server. The profiling and logging perspective opens, allowing you profile your portal project.
