Use an HTML element

We use an HTML element to store a section of HTML. To create an HTML element, we can either add an HTML element to an authoring template, site area or content item, or create an HTML component.

• Create an HTML component
  You create an HTML component when reusing a section of HTML in multiple places in the website. A copyright notice is an example of the HTML we could store in an HTML component.

• Add an HTML element to an item
  We add an HTML element to a site area or content item when we want a section of HTML to be used for a specific site area or content item.

• Add an HTML element to a template
  We add an HTML element to an authoring template when we want the HTML element to be used by a set of items using the same authoring template.
