Roadmap: Portlet and theme development environment

1. Gather information.

2. Check requirements.

3. Get the software.

4. Prepare a database server.

5. Prepare a user registry.

6. Install the Exceptional Digital Experience

7. Log on to verify portal is working:
   http://hostname.example.com:10039/wps/portal

8. Prepare a remote web server

9. Access the Configuration Wizard...
   http://your_server:10200/ibm/wizard

10. Log on with the ID: cw_profile

11. Select...
    Set Up a Stand-alone Server | Database Transfer

12. Provide information about the environment.

13. Save the configuration settings.

14. Choose one of the following options:
    • Click Download Files to run the steps remotely.
    • Click Run All Steps to run the steps locally.

15. Log on to verify portal is working.

16. Access the Configuration Wizard...
    http://your_server:10200/ibm/wizard

17. Log on with the cw_profile ID.

18. Select...
    Set Up a Stand-alone Server | Enable Federated Security

    If we set Use Administrator IDs stored in the LDAP user registry to yes, the WAS and portal user IDs and passwords are changed to the LDAP user ID and password. If we do not want to change both user IDs and passwords to match the LDAP user ID and password, set this value to no. After configuring the LDAP user registry, we can manually change the user IDs and passwords.

    The Enable Federated Security option modifies wimconfig.xml. Make a backup copy of this file before running ConfigEngine tasks.

    WP_PROFILE/config/cells/CellName/wim/config/wimconfig.xml

19. Provide information about the environment.

20. Save the configuration settings.

21. Choose one of the following options:
    • Click Download Files to run the steps remotely.
    • Click Run All Steps to run the steps locally.

22. Log on to verify portal is working server.

23. Run the performance tuning tool.

24. To improve start up performance, change the stand-alone server to developer mode.
