Upgrade the existing product offering

After the initial WebSphere Portal installation, we can purchase a license for an upgraded product offering.

In a clustered environment, run these steps on all the nodes.

We can record and run a response file to upgrade the existing product offering.

Use the following steps when you record the response file. Exit from the Installation Manager program to finish the recording.

  1. Stop all the application servers.

  2. Open the Installation Manager and complete the following steps to add the content repository:

    1. Select...

        File | Preferences | Repositories | Add Repositoriese | Browse | offering-install-eimage/Setup | repository.config | OK

    2. Ensure that all necessary repositories are checked.

    3. Verify the content repository is after the Server repository in the list.

    4. Click Test Connections to ensure the Installation Manager can successfully access the directory where the repository is stored.

    5. Select Apply.

    6. Select OK.

  3. On the main Installation Manager panel, select Install to begin the installation process.

  4. On the panel...

Install Package: Select packages to install

...check the box for your additional package. Then, click Next.

  5. Accept the license agreement and then click Next.

  6. On the Location panel, select group...

      Use the existing package group

Select the IBM WebSphere Portal V85 package group name and then click Next.

  7. On the Features panel, check the box for the additional feature that you purchased. Then, click Next.

  8. Confirm the Summary panel information and then click Install.

What to do next

New profiles are enabled with the upgraded offering. Existing profiles are only updated if they were created with the Installation Manager. If we created profiles with the Configuration Wizard, run...

    cd WP_PROFILE/ConfigEngine
    ConfigEngine.sh enable-wcm.bat

We can remove any new features and return to the previous installation offering. Start the Installation Manager. On the main Installation Manager panel, select Uninstall. Remove the upgrade package installed.
