Remote spellcheckers
Use a local spell checker is not supported. We cannot run spell checker on 64-bit systems. Instead, install and configure spell checker on a remote application server and access that server from the local IBM WebSphere Portal server.
We can run spell checker on the following systems:
Platform Versions Windows (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP1 (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with SP2 (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition with SP1 (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise and Standard Edition (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP1 or SP2 (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)
IBM AIX
- AIX V6.1 with Service Pack 4
- AIX V5L V5.3 with Service Pack 5300-04-01 (32 bit)
Linux (x86)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Enterprise Server (ES) V4.0 Update 4 & V5.0
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Advanced Server (AS) V4.0 Update 4 & V5.0
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Workstation (WS) V4.0 Update 4

Solaris on SPARC Oracle Solaris 9 on Sun SPARC with the latest Patch Cluster (32-bit kernel support) Running spell checker on the following systems is not supported:
- HP-UX
- Linux for System p
- Linux for System z
- Install a remote spell checker
To use a spell checker, install it remotely.
