The inline rating widget
Users can use the inline rating widget to view ratings that have been applied to a resource.Users can click a twisty arrow to open and close the widget. When a user clicks the twisty, the widget opens. It works as described in the following:
- The rating widget shows ratings for the resource from which the user opened the widget.
- Its title that describes which ratings are shown.
- The inline rating widget shows one of the following sets of ratings, depending on the setting of the rating scope parameter for the widget instance. For more information about this parameter see Inline rating widget parameter reference.
- All ratings
- This shows the average of all public ratings that the user or other users have applied to this resource and the user's own private ratings.
- Community ratings
- This shows the average of all ratings that users have applied to the resource as public ratings.
- Personal ratings
- This shows the average of the personal ratings, both public and privatethat the user has applied to this resource.
- Personal public ratings
- This shows the public ratings that the user has applied to this resource.
- Personal private ratings
- This shows the private rating the user has applied to this resource.
- By default the widget displays five asterisks ( ***** ), where five stars are the highest rating and one star is the lowest ratings that a resource can have.
- The inline rating widget shows a tooltip with a numeric representation of the rating distribution, for example Rating: 3.4 out of 5.
- The inline rating widget provides a plus ( + ) icon that users can use to open the default rating widget. For details about this see The dialog rating widget.
- Users cannot modify ratings within the inline widget. To add, update, or delete ratings, the user needs to navigate to the default rating widget by clicking the plus icon ( + ).
- Add the inline rating widget to the portal content
By default the inline rating widget is available for WCM content and blogs and wikis. We can also add inline rating widgets to the portal content as required.
