Prepare additional cluster members on IBM i
After installing and configuring the primary node, we can create the additional cluster nodes. Install IBM WebSphere Portal on each node and then configure the node to access the database and user registry before adding it to the cluster.
- Prerequisites
- Prepare the IBM i operating system in a clustered environment
- Prepare the primary node on IBM i
- Create and augment a new dmgr profile on IBM i
Complete the following tasks to prepare the additional cluster node:
- Install WebSphere Portal on IBM i for the horizontal cluster nodes
Install IBM WebSphere Portal on the additional cluster nodes to create a highly available and scalable environment. On additional nodes, you only need to install the WebSphere Portal product binary files. The WebSphere Portal application server and applications are added after the node is federated and a new cluster member is created.- Add horizontal nodes to the cluster on IBM i
After installing IBM WebSphere Portal for the horizontal cluster node, add the node to the cluster to create a highly available environment.
- Optional: Add vertical cluster members to a static cluster on IBM i
We can add vertical cluster members to share the workload demands of the cluster across multiple members running on the same physical machine.
