Staging to production
The process of moving portal artifacts and configurations from from the dev environment to the production environment is called staging.
Artifacts include portlets, themes and skins, portlet services, page layouts, wires, portlet configurations, and portlet data.
Staging is only possible between the same product release. Upgrading from one release to a newer release is called migration.
