Web Content Manager topologies
To use a Web Content Manager system, you will need to deploy a set of Web Content Manager environments within overall WebSphere Portal system. Reviewing the Web Content Manager environments help you understand what happens in each environment and how you may want to setup physical severs. Web Content Manager is installed using the WebSphere Portal installation user interface.
Each server or cluster in web content system requires a separate data repository, but they would usually share the same LDAP. A Web Content Manager system can be deployed in isolation or in parallel with a WebSphere Portal system.
Web content system overview
The type of web content system you deploy is determined by the size of web content system, the type of website being delivered and the number of users creating and viewing web content.
Web content authoring environments
An authoring environment is used to create and manage web content and is used by content creators and website designers.
Web content testing environments
This environment is used by testers and can be as simple as an individual server where site and content updates can be tested before being syndicated to the delivery environment, or as complex as complete replica of delivery environment where UAT can occur to both review site and content updates, and to test the performance of delivery environment. It can also be used to accumulate changes from authoring environment before syndicating changes to delivery environment in a single batch.
Web content delivery environments
A delivery environment is used to deliver content to web site viewers.
