Update the configuration archive on Windows
After customizing WebSphere Portal environment or installing an iFix that requires a configuration change to WebSphere Portal environment, run the replace-profile task. The readme documentation for the iFix will explicitly mention that configuration changes are introduced with the iFix. The replace-profiles task does not affect existing profiles. It is used when creating new profiles. You must manually apply changes to each existing profile.
If business practice requires version control of all systems and files, create a backup copy of the CAR before running the replace-profiles task.
Run the ConfigEngine.bat replace-profiles -DWasPassword=foo task, from the WP_PROFILE/ConfigEngine of the configuration profile that was used to create the CAR. The Portal.car file is updated on the $PORTAL_HOME/profileTemplates/default.portal/configArchives directory.
Install WebSphere Portal fix packs require that the WebSphere Portal profile templates are regenerated to upgrade to the new fix pack level. Run the enable-profiles task after the upgrade completes to regenerate the profile templates. Refer to the fix pack Readme documentation for information on how to upgrade the profile templates when applying a fix pack.
