Tune the servers
Tune the servers is important to the performance of WebSphere Portal environment. WebSphere Portal is not tuned for a production environment out of the box, so to ensure optimal performance, review and complete the steps in the IBM WebSphere Portal Tuning Guide. Even if a tuning guide is not available for the current release of WebSphere Portal, the tuning guide for the previous product version should be used.
Prerequisites
Windows standalone: Configure WebSphere Portal to use a database: wp7
Tune a WebSphere Portal environment involves tuning and configuring the various systems and components of the environment. The tuning guide provides general concepts and details specifics configuration instructions. Instructions are included for:
- Configure the application server and the resources defined for that application server
- Determine the cloning strategy for expanding or extending the environment
- Tune the database(s) and database server
- Tune the directory server and its database
- Tune the Web server
- Tune the OS and network
- Tune the WebSphere Portal services
