Set up a portal farm
The term "farm" refers to a series of identically configured, standalone server instances. The fact that they are standalone allows for the farm to be increased or decreased in size without having to worry about complex cluster configurations or inter-server awareness. Server farms offer a very simple way to build and maintain a highly scalable, highly available server environment. Creating the farm requires an established content subscriber, two or more installed instances of WebSphere Portal, and a configured Web server for load balancing; this documentation only covers the HTTP server plug-in but you can use any supported Web server.
Perform the following tasks to set up and maintain a portal farm:
- Choose the type of portal farm to create
- Set up the HTTP server plug-in on a portal farm
- Configure search in a portal farm
- Set up a highly available message bus
- Administer a portal farm
- Maintain a portal farm
