Select a condition

Select a condition for the child policy to fulfill when the rule of the parent policy is applied. Conditions available for selection already exist for the rule belonging to the parent policy. The condition you select will provide the level of specialization that you want for the policy settings of the resource.

One or more child policies must exist. Each child policy must have one condition from the rule of the parent policy.

To select a condition for the child policy:

  1. From the menu of the child policy, click Select Condition.

All conditions that exist for rules defined for the parent policy are listed for selection.

  2. Select a Condition from the list.

For example, Europe, if you are working with a Mail policy rule for geographic locations.

If the condition you need is not listed, create a new condition by editing the rule: Select Edit Rule from the policy rule menu.

  3. Click OK to return to the Policy Types portlet.

In the Policy Type portlet for the parent policy, you can now see the condition listed for the child policy. For example, Policy Type -> Mail lists the child policy European Mail Locales and its condition Europe.

Now, you can edit the child policy, select a different condition for the child policy, assign user access to the child policy, or delete the child policy and its parent policy.
